Job summary

Thompson Machinery in Tennessee is seeking a General Mechanic/Service Shop Technician to perform setup, repair, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and installation of replacement parts on Caterpillar diesel-powered equipment. This role works largely independently with guidance from service mentors and reports to a Service Shop Manager, serving customers in company shops.

You will read technical manuals, interpret schematics and test equipment, and deliver high-quality repairs maintaining

Qualifications

• Diesel engine or truck engine training from accredited schools or relevant military experience.
• Two+ years hands-on equipment/engine experience on diesel construction equipment or trucks.
• Able to work five-day schedules, with overtime and occasional weekends.
• Must possess a complete set of basic mechanical hand tools.
• Professionalism, integrity, adaptability and strong customer-service focus.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical instructions, service and safety manuals, company policies and procedures.
• Work with mechanical, hydraulic and electrical schematics; use test equipment.
• Provide high-quality repair service, respond to customer needs safely and timely.
