Job summary

Thompson Machinery is seeking a General Shop Mechanic in the construction sector to set up, repair, service, diagnose, and perform preventive maintenance on Caterpillar diesel-powered equipment. This role often works independently or with mentors and reports to a Service Shop Manager.

Responsibilities include interpreting manuals and schematics, using test equipment, and delivering high-quality repair work with safety and efficiency in mind. CDL may be required for some positions.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of diesel equipment experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose diesel-powered equipment.
• Excellent communication skills and customer service focus.
• Must possess basic mechanical hand tools and a complete set of tools.

Responsibilities

• Set up, repair, service, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on Caterpillar diesel-powered construction equipment.
• Interpret technical manuals, safety procedures, and company policies.
• Provide high-quality repair work with safety and timely delivery for customers.
