Job summary

Thompson Machinery in Memphis, Tennessee, is seeking a General Mechanic/Service Shop Technician to set up, repair, service, diagnose, and install parts on Caterpillar diesel-powered construction equipment in company service shops.

Qualifications

• Diesel engine or heavy equipment training from an accredited program or relevant military experience.
• Two or more years of hands-on diesel-powered equipment or truck engine experience.
• Must possess a complete set of basic mechanical hand tools (drives, sockets, wrenches).
• Valid driver's license; CDL may be required for some field positions.

Responsibilities

• Set up, repair, service, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and installation of replacement parts on Caterpillar diesel-powered construction equipment.
• Work largely independently or with guidance from service mentors.
• Serve customers located in company service shops.
