Job summary

Thompson Machinery is hiring a General Shop Mechanic for Construction in Tennessee. The role involves setting up, repairing and servicing Caterpillar diesel equipment in company service shops, with guidance from mentors and reports to a Service Shop Manager.

You should have 2+ years of hands-on experience, diesel/truck engine familiarity, a valid license and willingness to work overtime, including occasional weekends. Thompson Machinery offers a strong benefits package and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Diesel engine or truck engine experience required.
• 2+ years hands-on equipment/engine experience.
• Valid driver's license; CDL may be required for some roles.
• Ability to work five days with overtime and some weekend hours.
• Strong communication and customer service focus.
• Ability to read manuals and interpret schematics.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical instructions, service and safety manuals.
• Repair, service, diagnose, and perform preventive maintenance on Caterpillar diesel equipment.
• Work with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical schematics and use test equipment.
• Provide high-quality repair service in a safe, timely manner in service shops.
