Job summary

Thompson Machinery is hiring a General Mechanic/Service Shop Technician in Middle Tennessee to set up, repair, service, diagnose, and maintain Caterpillar diesel equipment. You’ll work largely independently, with guidance from service mentors, in our service shops.

Responsibilities include reading manuals, using schematics and test equipment, and delivering safe, high-quality repairs for customers.benefits include competitive pay and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Diesel engine or truck engine experience is required.
• 2+ years of hands-on equipment experience.
• Valid state driver’s license; CDL may be required for some positions.
• Overtime and some weekend hours may be required.
• Must possess a complete set of basic mechanical hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical instructions, service and safety manuals, policies and procedures.
• Work with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical/electronic schematics; use test equipment.
• Perform high-quality repair service on equipment and engines for customers in service shops.
