Job summary

Thompson Machinery in Tennessee is seeking a General Mechanic/Service Shop Technician to set up, repair, service, diagnose, perform preventive maintenance, and install replacement parts on Caterpillar diesel powered construction equipment. This skilled technician works largely independently or with guidance from service mentors and reports to a Service Shop Manager.

Qualifications

• Diesel engine and/or construction equipment experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
• Two+ years of hands-on equipment experience and diagnostics.
• Ability to read manuals and safety procedures; basic tools required.
• Valid driver's license; CDL may be required for some roles.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical manuals, service and safety guides, and policies.
• Work with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical schematics and test equipment.
• Provide high quality repair service, respond to customer needs safely and promptly.
