Job summary

Redwood Logistics LLC in Chicago seeks a Carrier Development Representative to identify, source, and cultivate strong provider relationships to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction while upholding Redwood’s commitment to operational excellence.

You will engage carriers by phone, negotiate freight rates, monitor shipments, and expand carrier networks, with a hybrid work model after training and opportunities for internal mobility and performance-based bonuses.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, networking, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Sales, foodservice industry, or similar experience a plus.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Responsibilities

• Expand knowledge of transportation industry within carrier sales and Redwood operations.
• Build and maintain new and current carrier profiles through research and networking and align Redwood truckload sales opportunities.
• Actively engage carrier partners primarily by phone, targeting 80+ dials per day.
• Build understanding of macro-market conditions and how it impacts truckload rates and capacity.
• Learn to negotiate freight rates to motor carriers to maximize profitability on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly basis.
• Coordinate available customer freight with available motor carrier equipment, utilizing Redwood's internal postings.
• Provide service and support to motor carriers to build the business relationship.
• Learn Redwood’s level of exceptional customer service and resolve issues timely when needed.
• Track and monitor shipments to proactively address issues or delays during transit.
• Verify all freight charges, confirm receipt of Bill of Lading, and resolve all payables discrepancies prior to final payment to motor carrier.
• Monitor Bill of Lading discrepancies to ensure proper return of commodity is arranged as necessary.
• Research, contact, and develop new carrier relationships to leverage a portfolio of carrier networks to introduce new capacity to customer sales opportunities.
