Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, FL seeks an experienced PA, Surgical Assistant, or House Physician to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in CT surgery with strong OR skills, knowledge of anatomy, sterile technique, suturing, and perioperative care.

Responsibilities include assisting with patient positioning, draping, instrument handling, and collaboration with surgeons to ensure patient safety.

Formación

• Minimum of 2 years of PA/SA/House Physician experience in cardiothoracic surgery.
• Active PA license or eligibility and board certification as required.
• Graduate of a US- accredited medical school or equivalent.

Responsabilidades

• Assists with positioning and transferring patients pre- and post-operatively.
• Maintains licensure and BCLS/CPR certification; documents on file.
• Assists in catheter insertions, draping, and prepping of patients.
• Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy related to surgical procedures and positioning.
• Uses and respects sterile technique; passes sharps safely.
• Maintains sterile field until dressing is applied and patient exits OR.
• Assists in exposure/retraction to aid the surgeon and minimize tissue damage.
• Maintains appropriate suctioning and electrocautery use during procedures.
• Demonstrates knot-tying and suturing proficiency; handles instruments properly.
• Alerts circulating nurse to aseptic breaks and assists in corrective action.
• Performs history and physicals and presents cases to attending physician for direction.
• Provides general health counseling post-consultation and documents care.
