Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center of Florida, Inc. is seeking an experienced PA, Surgical Assistant, or House Physician with at least 2 years of cardiothoracic surgery experience.

This role requires strong OR and surgical-assisting skills, knowledge of cardiothoracic anatomy, sterile technique, instrumentation, tissue retraction, hemostasis, suturing, and comprehensive perioperative patient care. The candidate will work closely with surgeons and the surgical team to ensure patient safety, quality care,

Qualifications

• Associate degree with PA license; Bachelor’s degree in area of expertise preferred for PA.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred for SA; Foreign medical school graduate considered for SA.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred for House Physician; graduate of an Allopathic US Medical School or approved international school.

Responsibilities

• Assists with positioning and transferring of patients pre- and post-operatively.
• Maintains licensure and BCLS certification; documents on file.
• Involves insertion of catheters and/or lines; adjusts draping and prepping.
• Uses PPE and maintains sterile field; passes sharps safely.
• Assists surgeon; maintains exposure and tissue handling as needed.
• Monitors surgical instruments and clamps bleeding vessels; applies sponges or pressure.
• Performs scrubbing, knot-tying, and suturing as directed by surgeon.
• Participates in intraoperative communication with nursing staff and teams.
• Contributes to hospital performance improvement activities and data collection.
• Performs history and physical exams per department protocol; presents cases for medical direction.

Education

Associate degree with PA license

Bachelor's degree in area of expertise
