GEO Corrections & Detentions in the United States is seeking a Captain to oversee shift operations, supervise staff, and ensure inmate safety and orderly facility function.

You will develop and implement custody procedures, conduct inspections, review disciplinary matters, and coordinate staffing for security Supervisors and officers.

The role requires leadership, clear communication, and a solid understanding of corrections laws and court orders; experience in a supervisory role is essential.

Qualifications

• Must meet basic Corrections Officer qualifications.
• Minimum of 3 years in a correctional setting with supervisory experience.
• Must be emotionally stable, flexible, and empathetic toward inmates.
• Knowledge of corrections laws and applicable court orders.
• Strong communication to interact with diverse personalities.

Responsibilities

• Direct shift operations as Captain, overseeing staff and inmate safety.
• Develop and implement custody, security, and treatment policies.
• Coordinate staffing for security supervisors and officers.
• Respond to unusual occurrences and prepare reports.
• Supervise staff, review post orders and ensure training.
• Support facility programs and goals; monitor logs.
• Write policies, courtroom defenses, and contract-related documents.
• Inspect for compliance with safety, contraband, and sanitation rules.
