Job summary

Ball State University is seeking a PT Student Support Assistant to greet students, families, and visitors, and provide information about the university, programs, events, and financial aid resources at Cardinal Central.

This on-campus role emphasizes excellent customer service, smooth Welcome Desk operations, and collaboration with staff to support administrative and student services while maintaining FERPA confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 2 years related experience in lieu of degree.
• Over one year in a receptionist or customer service role in an educational or service-oriented environment.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Professionally greet and welcome students, staff, and visitors; assist with signing guests into our queuing system and document/direct visitors.
• Provide information about Cardinal Central and university services, programs and events; respond to inquiries in person or by email and direct to appropriate department.
• Ensure all interactions and handling of student records comply with FERPA; maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Collect scholarship checks and student documents; provide receipts and note in Slate Go; prepare documents for pick-up.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and participate in team meetings.
• Utilize and maintain proficiency in software including Outlook, Word, Windows, Banner, Slate Go, and Teams.
• Assist Admin Coordinator and senior leaders with scheduling, supplies, room reservations, Help Desk tickets, and event planning.
• Maintain tidy reception area and update the Welcome Desk manual.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
