Job summary

Ball State University Dining is seeking a Food Service Worker to support on-campus food preparation and service. The role involves customer service, daily food preparation, cashier duties, dishwashing, and maintaining sanitation.

You will work a set schedule in Woodworth Dining with comprehensive benefits including health, dental, retirement, and tuition-related perks. This is a full-time, on-campus opportunity that emphasizes teamwork and service excellence.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Cashier Training Class and passing score on final test.
• Ability to read and comprehend safety, hazmat policies and University policies.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• No allergies to soaps, cleaning agents, or other materials in food service.
• Must maintain clean personal appearance.
• Experience in school/hospital cafeteria preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble supplies and set up service area and serve food.
• Hand wash and store pots, pans, and food service equipment.
• Clean equipment and work area and maintain sanitation and safety.
• Perform cashier duties using computerized machines and maintain records.
• Greet customers to ensure positive relationships.
• Operate and clean dishwashing machinery and related equipment.
• Prepare food and assist cooks as needed.
• Assist with laundry and related duties.
• Assist with food delivery and table service.
• Direct student employees and assign work when required.
• Count and record food prepared and served.
• Obtain supplies from storage areas.
• Enforce safety rules and regulations.
