Job summary

Cal Poly Maritime Academy in Vallejo, CA is seeking a part-time Facilities Assistant for the Solano Campus. The role supports the Facilities Management Department with daily operations, conference prep, and event support while working up to 20 hours per week during the academic year.

Candidates must be enrolled as Cal Poly students, maintain good academic standing, and be able to lift 30 pounds, climb stairs, and provide friendly, reliable service to residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Must be in good conduct standing with the University when appointed and for the duration of the employment period.
• Undergraduates must be in good academic standing (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5) for each semester while employed.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull 30 pounds regularly/occasionally.
• Must be able to ascend and descend stairs (three flights).
• Ability to work with a diverse population of students, parents, guardians and guests.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent time management, communication, administrative, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Must be available days, nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a welcoming, equitable environment in hall surroundings and general environment.
• Set-up and move equipment and furniture for conferences and events.
• Set-up/breakdown spaces, unlock doors, arrange tables/chairs, audio/visual, and dispose of trash.
• Assist facilities staff in cleaning and stocking bathrooms.
• Assist with carpet cleaning (vacuuming) and trash collection.
• Maintain an accurate log of tasks, space conditions, and resident concerns.
• Complete reports as needed and assist with room cleaning and linen records.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
