Job summary

Ohio State University is seeking an Assistant Dining Manager for its Student Life Dining Services. The role oversees a busy university dining unit serving thousands daily, with responsibilities spanning production, procurement, inventory and staff coaching.

The position supports Union Market and Marketplace operations on campus. Critical to success are strong customer service skills, supervisory experience, and knowledge of safety/HACCP principles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 4 years relevant experience
• 1-3 years experience in food service management or related field
• excellent customer service skills
• ability to read and interpret documents such as receipts, safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals
• ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• successful completion of a background check

Responsibilities

• Assist in the management of a university dining unit
• Oversee diverse service styles including cafeteria, grab-and-go, retail or c-store
• Supervise production, service and quality of meals
• Manage procurement, inventory and supplier relationships
• Coach and train student employees and staff
• Ensure prompt, courteous customer service for all guests
• Work weekends, holidays and special events as needed
