Job summary

Blue Bottle Coffee in Washington, DC is seeking a Shift Supervisor to lead hospitality and uphold cafe standards while driving business objectives. You will supervise operations without direct reports, coordinating staff to ensure safety, cleanliness, and quality.

The role emphasizes onboarding and training, cash handling, guest satisfaction, and contributing to sustainability initiatives. Availability for mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• 6 months to 1 year of supervisory experience or experience in team leadership.
• Completed Blue Bottle Academy’s Barista training and validation program or will complete it within 90 days post-hire.
• Existing Food Safety Certification required for the state you will be working in and for your specific role, or will obtain it within 30 days post-hire.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• A flexible schedule and are available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oversee service flow to uphold safety, cleanliness, quality, and efficiency.
• Execute essential operational support duties such as ordering, receiving, and managing inventory
• Follow the Leader on Duty process and checklists by deploying staff, overseeing breaks, and ensuring hospitality and adherence to standards
• Facilitate onboarding and training of new team members
• Assume responsibility for cash handling and daily deposits
• Promptly address guest concerns within the Cafe
• Provide guidance on new menu offerings and procedures
• Lead sustainability initiatives with your team
• Prepare and serve beverages and food to high quality
• Supervise high-performing team members
• Lead with Omotenashi and foster learning through tastings and trainings
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and constructive feedback in workplace
