Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) is offering a part-time CAD Model Design Intern position to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley. The role focuses on developing free flight and forced oscillation models and preparing CAD models for rapid prototype fabrication.

You will work onsite at NASA Langley, create models in .igs/.stp, and design geometries for oscillation tests, with emphasis on movable center of gravity and reliable mounting interfaces.

Qualifications

• Undergrad or graduate student in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Minimum 2 years CAD experience or 2 CAD courses completed.
• Experience with CAD file formats including .igs and .stp; ability to produce CAD models.

Responsibilities

• Develop CAD models in .igs or .stp and native CAD formats used for design work.
• Create CAD configurations for oscillation tests including mounting interfaces at reference points.
• Design geometry to accommodate thermal inset fasteners for mounting to balance sting.
• Create CAD solid models for wind tunnel models using 3D printing or similar methods.
• Design models to enable a movable center of gravity.
