Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) invites applications for a part-time CAD Model Design Intern to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley. The role focuses on rapid prototype CAD design for free flight and forced oscillation testing of blunt entry vehicle geometries.

You will develop models in .igs/.stp and other CAD formats, configure oscillation setups, and enable movable center of gravity studies for wind tunnel tests and trajectory validation.

Qualifications

• Undergrad or graduate student in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Minimum 2 years' CAD experience or 2 semesters CAD coursework.
• Proficient with .igs or .stp and native CAD formats.
• Ability to work onsite at NASA Langley.

Responsibilities

• Develop models in .igs or .stp and native CAD formats.
• Create CAD models for oscillation configurations with mounting interfaces at reference points.
• Design geometry for thermal inset fasteners for secure mounting to the balance sting.
• Create CAD solid models of wind tunnel models using FDM 3D printing or similar.
• Design models to allow a movable center of gravity.
