Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc (AMA) seeks a part-time CAD Model Design Intern to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley. The role involves developing CAD models for free flight and oscillation tests, with a focus on geometry, mounting interfaces, and movable center of gravity for validation data collection.

The intern will create models in .igs/.stp and native CAD formats, contribute to rapid prototype fabrication, and work onsite at NASA Langley with opportunities

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate student in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years' CAD model development or 2 semesters of CAD coursework.
• Experience with .igs or .stp and native CAD formats.
• Ability to work onsite at NASA Langley.

Responsibilities

• Develop models in .igs or .stp and native CAD formats for design work.
• Create CAD models for oscillation configurations with mounting interfaces.
• Design geometry for thermal inset fasteners for accurate mounting to balance sting.
• Create CAD solid models of wind tunnel models using 3D printing or similar.
• Design models to enable a movable center of gravity.
