Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc. (AMA) is seeking a part-time CAD Model Design Intern to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley Research Center.

The CAD Model Design Intern will work on developing free flight and forced oscillation model design for rapid prototype fabrication. Responsibilities include creating models in .igs or .stp formats, developing oscillation configurations, and ensuring mounting interfaces are correctly located.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or Graduate student in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in developing CAD models or 2 semesters of relevant CAD coursework.
• Experience with .igs or .stp, as well as the native CAD format.
• Ability to work onsite at NASA Langley.

Responsibilities

• Create models in the form of .igs or .stp, as well as the native CAD format used for the design work.
• Develop CAD models for oscillation configurations that include location of mounting interface at specified reference points.
• Design geometry to accommodate thermal inset fasteners for accurate and reliable mounting to the balance sting.
• Create CAD solid models of free flight wind tunnel models using FDM 3D printing methods or similar.
• Design the models to enable a movable center of gravity.
