Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) seeks a part-time CAD Modeling Intern to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley. The role focuses on developing free flight and forced oscillation models for rapid prototype fabrication and testing to study dynamic stability of blunt entry vehicles.

Responsibilities include creating CAD models in .igs/.stp, configuring oscillation geometries, enabling movable centers of gravity, and utilizing FDM 3D printing to fabricate wind tunnel

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate student in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• At least 2 years' CAD modeling experience or two CAD courses.
• Experience with IGS or STEP and native CAD formats.

Responsibilities

• Develop CAD models in .igs or .stp and the native CAD format used.
• Create CAD models for oscillation configurations with mounting interfaces.
• Design geometry for thermal inset fasteners for mounting to the balance sting.
• Create CAD solid models of wind tunnel models using FDM 3D printing.
• Design models to enable a movable center of gravity.
