Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc (AMA) is seeking a part-time CAD Model Design Intern to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley Research Center. The role focuses on developing free flight and forced oscillation models for rapid prototyping and validation data for trajectory analysis.

Responsibilities include creating CAD models in .igs/.stp formats, configuring oscillation setups, and enabling movable center of gravity.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate student in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Minimum 2 years CAD modeling experience or 2 semesters CAD coursework.
• Experience with .igs or .stp and native CAD formats.
• Ability to work onsite at NASA Langley.

Responsibilities

• Develop models as .igs or .stp and the native CAD formats used for design work.
• Create CAD models for oscillation configurations with mounting interface locations at reference points.
• Design geometry to accommodate thermal inset fasteners for secure mounting to the balance sting.
• Create CAD solid models of wind tunnel models using FDM 3D printing or similar methods.
• Design models to allow a movable center of gravity.
