Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc (AMA) is seeking a part-time CAD Model Design Intern to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley Research Center. The role focuses on developing free flight and forced oscillation models for rapid prototype fabrication and validating trajectory simulations.

The internship requires on-site work at NASA Langley, with a background in mechanical or aerospace engineering and CAD experience using .igs/.stp formats. U.S.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate student pursuing mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Experience with CAD modeling for design projects.
• Familiarity with CAD file formats such as .igs/.stp.

Responsibilities

• Develop CAD models in .igs or .stp and native CAD formats used for design work.
• Create CAD models for oscillation configurations with mounting interface references.
• Design geometry to accommodate thermal inset fasteners for mounting to the balance sting.
• Create CAD solid models of free flight wind tunnel models using 3D printing methods (FDM) or equivalent.
• Enable a movable center of gravity in model designs.
