Altron, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Navy Programs team in Middletown, RI. You will contribute to the development, integration, and maintenance of mission-critical software supporting U.S.

Navy submarines and platforms, with a focus on secure, reliable code. The ideal candidate has strong C++ development on Linux (C++11+), unit testing, and experience in an agile team. The role includes modernizing apps for Kubernetes deployment and containerization, with a base salary of

Qualifications

U.S. citizenship and active DoD Secret clearance at time of hire.
Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE or related field with 2–4 years of software development experience.
Proficiency in C++11+ on Linux, including STL and multithreading.
Experience with Make-based builds on Linux and Git workflows.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain C++ applications for Navy submarine systems.
Modernize existing C++ apps and migrate legacy software to a Kubernetes-based platform.
Build and package C++ apps as containers for Kubernetes runtime.
Write unit tests, maintain code coverage, and perform component/integration testing.
Debug and troubleshoot software defects with test engineers to reproduce and resolve issues.
Collaborate with product leads in an agile/scrum environment to deliver features.
