Job summary

Altron Inc in Manassas, VA, seeks a Software Engineer to join our Navy Programs team, developing and maintaining mission-critical software for U.S. Navy submarines and carriers on a Kubernetes-based platform.

You'll work in an agile environment, design and test C++ on Linux (C++11+), contribute to modernization efforts, and collaborate with product leads and testers to deliver reliable, secure software in a DoD context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in C++ development (C++11+).
• Experience on Linux and in Navy/DoD contexts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain C++ applications for Navy submarine systems.
• Modernize legacy software and migrate to a Kubernetes-based platform.
• Build and package C++ apps as containers for Kubernetes runtime.
• Write unit tests and maintain test coverage.
• Debug and troubleshoot defects with test engineers.
• Collaborate with product leads in an agile/scrum cadence.
• Produce clear, maintainable code following CM practices.
