Altron Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer for the Navy Programs team in Middletown, RI. The role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining C++ applications for submarine combat systems, with containerized deployments to Kubernetes environments.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of C++ experience on Linux, familiarity with Git workflows, and agile teamwork. A DoD Secret clearance is required, with a base salary range of $85,000–$105,000 and potential sign-on bonuses and broad benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 1–3 years of professional software development experience using one or more of the following languages: Java, C++11 (or newer), or Python.
• Familiarity with Git-based version control and code review workflows.
• Familiarity with Linux based development environments.
• Familiarity with agile software development methodologies and collaborative team environments.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, and maintaining C++ applications supporting U.S. Navy submarine combat systems.
• Building and packaging software applications as containers for deployment to a Kubernetes-based runtime environment, working with senior engineers on configuration and deployment.
• Developing unit tests for software components and supporting test coverage as features evolve.
