Job summary

DLR Group's South Central Region is offering a Mechanical Engineering Intern position in Houston, TX for Summer 2027. This paid, full-time internship runs May 18 through August 6, 2027, with opportunities to work within an integrated design team.

You will contribute to mechanical design for buildings, collaborate with licensed engineers, and participate in the EPX program featuring mentorship and weekly learning sessions.

Qualifications

• Completed at least one year in ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering program.
• Experience or interest in BIM workflow (e.g., Autodesk Revit MEP).

Responsibilities

• Work with a licensed engineer designing mechanical systems for new construction or renovation projects.
• Attend design team meetings and observe coordination within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Assist with design and development of construction documents using Revit.
• Visit active construction sites when possible.
• Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs from concept through completion.
