Job summary

DLR Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in the Northwest region, with openings in Seattle or Portland. This paid, full‑time internship runs May 18 through August 6, 2027, and provides hands‑on experience within an integrated design firm.

You will collaborate with licensed engineers, participate in design meetings, develop MEP designs using Revit, and may visit active construction sites as part of a mentored program.

Qualifications

• Completed at least one year in an ABET-accredited Mechanical or Architectural Engineering program.
• Experience or interest in BIM workflow (Autodesk Revit MEP).
• FE exam passed (preferred).
• A third-year student in an accredited engineering program (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Work with a licensed engineer designing mechanical systems for new construction and/or building renovation projects
• Attend design team meetings with a mechanical engineer and observe the coordination that occurs among the team members of a multi-disciplinary design team
• Assist a mechanical engineer with the design and development of construction documents primarily using Revit
• Visit an active construction site (contingent on the status of local construction projects)
• Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs from concept through completion
