Job summary

DLR Group in Los Angeles is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to contribute to mechanical system designs on built projects. You will work with licensed engineers, participate in design discussions, and gain hands‑on experience from concept through documentation.

This paid, full‑time internship runs May 18 through August 6, 2027 under the EPX program, with mentorship, project work, and weekly learning sessions across architecture, engineering, and interior design.

Qualifications

• Completed at least one year in an ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering program.
• Experience or interest in BIM (e.g. Autodesk Revit MEP) workflow.

Responsibilities

• Work with a licensed engineer designing mechanical systems for new construction and/or building renovation projects.
• Attend design team meetings with a mechanical engineer and observe coordination among a multi-disciplinary team.
• Assist a mechanical engineer with the design and development of construction documents primarily using Revit.
• Visit an active construction site (contingent on local projects).
• Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs from concept through completion.
