Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Building Mechanical Engineer to join our Infrastructure Design Department in the West Central region. You will design HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and central utility systems for water, wastewater, and industrial facilities, collaborating with architects and engineers to deliver compliant, efficient solutions.

You’ll perform load calculations, energy analyses, and prepare detailed drawings and specs while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with clients and vendors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
  • PE license or ability to obtain within one year.
  • At least 5 years of progressive building mechanical engineering and project delivery experience.
  • Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC systems, including central plants and package units, per codes and standards.
  • Design plumbing, drainage, and utility systems for buildings.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and technicians; mentor junior engineers.
  • Lead meetings with clients, vendors, and project stakeholders; manage quality and schedule.
  • Support field staff during construction; review submittals and RFI responses.
