Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Building Mechanical Engineer to join our Infrastructure Design Department. You will design HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and central utilities for water, wastewater, and facility projects across multiple sectors, with emphasis on coordination and deliverables.

You will lead design efforts, perform load calculations, energy analyses, and produce drawings and specifications while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with architects and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline.
• PE license or ability to obtain within one year.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive building mechanical engineering and project delivery experience.
• Proficient MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Design complete HVAC systems and central plants per codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IBC, IECC).
• Lead client and vendor meetings to establish project needs and discuss design issues.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers and technicians; mentor junior engineers.
• Manage project budgets and schedules; ensure interface with clients and contractors.
