Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Building Mechanical Engineer to deliver HVAC, plumbing and fire protection designs for infrastructure projects in the Northwest. You will design central plants, utility systems and support field and design teams to meet project goals.

The role requires a PE license or the ability to obtain within a year, 5+ years of experience, and strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive building mechanical engineering and project delivery experience.
  • Strong data analysis, problem solving and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for buildings.
  • Perform HVAC loads, duct/pipe sizing, energy analyses and energy compliance calculations.
  • Prepare detailed designs, BOMs, and basis of design reports; coordinate with vendors.
  • Lead field evaluations, as-built drawings, and quality/schedule management.
  • Mentor junior engineers and coordinate across architects, engineers and technicians.
  • Attend meetings with clients, vendors and stakeholders to align on project needs.
  • Manage project budgets, estimating efforts and construction support.
