Job summary

ECS Group of Companies seeks a Building Enclosure Staff Associate to join the Mid-Atlantic Building Science + Infrastructure team in Charlottesville, VA. You will support building enclosure projects, gain hands-on field experience, and develop skills in testing, analysis, and reporting while collaborating with senior staff and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering or Architecture (NCARB).
• 1+ year of related experience required.
• Certifications may be required depending on testing performed (EIT, IIBEC).

Responsibilities

• Support building science & infrastructure testing, inspections, and consulting services.
• Conduct site observations and inspections of roofing and enclosure systems.
• Assist with drafting or CAD work when needed.
• Develop testing protocols and document field observations.
• Prepare field reports describing findings and conditions.
• Assist with analysis of field observations and testing results to support conclusions.
• Learn building codes and standards (IBC and local codes).
• Assist with project setup, proposals, invoices, and documentation.
