Job summary

Engineering Consulting Service (ECS) is seeking a Building Enclosure Project Associate to join its Mid-Atlantic Building Science & Infrastructure team in Fredericksburg, VA. You will support building enclosure consulting projects through field investigations, testing, technical analysis, and report preparation, collaborating with experienced consultants and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architecture (NCARB), or related field.
• 2+ years of building enclosure consulting experience including field investigations, testing, commissioning (BECx), design review, or forensic assessments.
• Licensing or certification preferred: P.E., RA, IIBEC certifications (RRC, RWC, REWC, RBECxP), UW–Madison certifications (BECxP, CxA+BE).

Responsibilities

• Perform building science and infrastructure testing, inspections, and consulting.
• Conduct site observations of roofing and building enclosure systems.
• Interpret drawings and assist with CAD work.
• Develop testing protocols and interpret results.
• Assist with forensic assessments and commissioning.
• Support design reviews and peer reviews.
• Maintain familiarity with IBC, ASHRAE, ASTM, CSI.
• Coordinate project activities and budgets.
• Interface with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations.
