Job summary

ECS is seeking a Building Enclosure Project Associate to join the Mid-Atlantic Building Science & Infrastructure team in Richmond, VA. You will support building enclosure consulting projects through field investigations, testing, analysis, and report preparation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering, Architecture (NCARB), or related field.
• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in building enclosure consulting, including field investigations, testing, commissioning (BECx), design review, or forensic assessments.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.), Registered Architect (R.A.), IIBEC certifications (RRC, RWC, REWC, RBECxP) preferred but not required.
• University of Wisconsin-Madison certifications (BECxP, CxA+BE) listed.

Responsibilities

• Support building science & infrastructure projects through field investigations, testing, analysis, and report prep.
• Conduct site observations and inspections of roofing and enclosure systems.
• Assist with drafting or CAD work when needed and interpret drawings/site plans.
• Develop testing protocols and perform building enclosure testing; interpret results and recommend actions.
• Assist with forensic assessments, commissioning activities, and enclosure investigations.
• Assist with design reviews and repair design for building envelope components; peer review of specs.
