Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Professional, Structural Engineering - Bridges in Valhalla, NY to provide high-level technical guidance on bridge projects for the public sector. You will lead investigations, design development, planning, and construction support, ensuring quality and code compliance.

The role requires 7–10 years of experience, an NY PE license or reciprocity, and strong communication and leadership skills to manage multi-disciplinary teams and ensure project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 7–10 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and prior structural or civil design experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer in New York State or able to obtain via reciprocity.
• Proficient with structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and their application to project work.
• Knowledge of infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; rehabilitation, new design, and construction projects.
• Knowledge of structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, and record-keeping requirements.
• Ability to perform technical computations and interpret plans and specifications.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills for a engineering and non-engineering audience.
• Demonstrated self-leadership, multitasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to work with junior team members and adhere to QA/QC policies.
• Willingness to travel as project requires.

Responsibilities

• Apply high-level structural engineering techniques to improve various project phases.
• Perform professional structural engineering work and assess site conditions for compliance with rules and permits.
• Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; coordinate with owners and clients.
• Oversee cross-functional teams to manage budgets, hours, expenses, and technical analyses.
• Coordinate, review and approve design plans ensuring codes and regulations compliance.
• Prepare data visualizations, tables, charts, and diagrams for analyses and presentations.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations addressing structural and design issues.
• Analyze site investigation data and assist in risk mitigation actions.
• Prepare and implement HASPs and health and safety plans.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of structural engineering practices.
