Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Professional, Structural Engineering - Bridges for our team in Valhalla, New York. You will provide high-level technical leadership for bridge investigations, design, and construction, ensuring quality and compliance with industry standards.

Ideal candidates hold a NY PE license (or reciprocity) with 7–10 years of relevant experience, and can manage cross-functional teams across design, rehabilitation, and remediation projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 7–10 years of post-education engineering experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer in New York State or eligible via reciprocity.
• Proficient in structural engineering principles, design/build processes.
• Involvement in infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
• Knowledge of relevant laws, codes, and regulatory practices.
• Strong analytical computations and interpretation of plans.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Self-leadership with multi-tasking and attention to detail.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and lead junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced structural methods to improve various project phases.
• Conduct site evaluations to verify conditions and compliance.
• Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Prepare safety, phasing plans, and updated layout drawings.
• Manage design, construction, rehabilitation of infrastructure.
• Oversee cross-functional teams and monitor budgets, hours, and resources.
• Review and approve design plans for code compliance.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
• Analyze site data and propose risk mitigation actions.
• Develop HASPs and maintain safety standards on site.
• Keep current with structural engineering best practices.
