Job summary

WSP USA in Valhalla, New York, is seeking a Senior Professional, Structural Engineering - Bridges to join our dynamic team. You will perform structural analysis, design, site-work, reviews, and support a range of bridge projects in public and private sectors.

The role includes leading projects, mentoring junior engineers, developing construction plans, cost estimates, and coordinating with owners and clients while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in structural engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer in New York State or able to obtain via reciprocity.
• Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and related issues.
• Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; involvement in rehabilitation and new design projects.
• Knowledge of sustainability concepts and reducing hazardous substances/greenhouse gas.
• Familiarity with structural/civil construction laws, codes, regulations, and record-keeping.
• Ability to perform technical computations and interpret plans and regulations.
• Project management experience with small to mid-size projects including tracking hours and expenses.
• Ability to plan inspections and investigations on construction and design aspects.

Responsibilities

• Determine data collection and analysis methods from site surveys, drawings, GIS, and other sources for project development, design, and construction.
• Perform professional structural engineering work, inspect proposed and existing conditions, and assess conformance with rules and permits.
• Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; update layout plans coordinating with owners and clients.
• Incorporate advanced modeling techniques and design requirements for safe, functional end-use structures.
• Lead or work within cross-functional teams to execute multiple projects and guide junior engineers and interns.
• Verify site characteristics and provide technical guidance on ensuring structural soundness against loads and environmental factors.
• Prepare data visualizations, tables, charts, and technical reports for findings and recommendations.
• Maintain QA/QC standards for measurements, analysis, and reporting.
• Assist in scoping of smaller and medium-sized projects and in risk mitigation activities.
