WSP is seeking a Bridge/Structural Engineer for our Washington, DC or Herndon, VA office. You will be involved in projects with our Transportation Team and collaborate with senior engineers to analyze, design, and evaluate transportation structures.

The role emphasizes experience with highway and rail structures, field inspection, and design documentation using CAD and analysis tools. Opportunities exist to develop expertise and advance within a growing firm.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years post-education experience in engineering discipline with prior structural or civil design.
  • Engineer in Training certification.
  • Knowledge of structural engineering principles, codes, and design processes.
  • Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management including rehabilitation and new design.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in analysis, design, and evaluation of highway, rail, and other transportation structures under guidance of senior engineers.
  • Perform structural calculations for bridge components including superstructures, substructures, foundations, joints, and bearings.
  • Develop structural models and perform basic analysis per design standards.
  • Prepare inspection reports, design documents, and technical memos.
  • Coordinate with regulators and document compliance with codes and standards.
  • Support senior engineers and project managers in developing design alternatives and documenting recommendations.
