Job summary

WSP in the U.S. is seeking a Bridge/Structural Engineer for our Washington, DC or Herndon, VA office. You will work with our Transportation Team on a range of bridge projects, performing analysis, design, and documentation under the supervision of senior engineers.

The role involves field inspections, model development, and preparation of technical reports, plans, and specifications. Candidates should have a structural/civil background, EIT, and 3–5 years of relevant experience, with strong

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of post-education experience in structural or civil design.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Knowledge of structural engineering principles, design/build processes and applicable standards.
  • Experience with infrastructure planning, design and construction management; rehabilitation and new design.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in analysis, design, and evaluation of transportation structures under guidance of senior engineers.
  • Perform structural calculations for bridges including superstructure and substructure components.
  • Develop structural models and perform basic analysis per design standards.
  • Prepare bridge design plans, specs, reports and contract documents using CAD tools.
  • Field inspection and condition assessment of bridges and related structures.
  • Prepare quantity and cost estimates and review drawings for design intent and compliance.
