Job summary

WSP in Herndon, VA seeks a Lead Structural Engineer and Bridge Inspection Team Leader to guide our Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team. The role blends field work (about 50%) with office tasks, focusing on inspections, load ratings, and plan development using MicroStation, Visio, and AutoCAD.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in bridge/infrastructure inspection, a PE license, NCBI certification, and WMATA experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• NCBI certification via FHWA training.
• 7+ years in bridge, tunnel or related inspection.
• PE license or ability to obtain promptly.
• WMATA experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team on inspection projects.
• Perform professional structural engineering work and inspections.
• Develop plans/sketches using MicroStation, Visio, and AutoCAD.
• Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
• Support cost proposals and scope of work documentation.
• Ensure safety and adherence to policies, including ethics and conduct.
• Coordinate field work and office tasks with cross-functional teams.
