Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Early Career Structural Engineer for our Herndon, VA or Richmond, VA office. You will contribute to design, development, and construction of buildings and infrastructure, working under supervision on data collection, site conditions, and code compliance.

This role focuses on learning, performing routine engineering tasks, document generation, and supporting safety and project goals while developing technical writing skills and familiarity with design software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from sites and sources for project development, design, and construction.
• Assist with performing basic professional structural engineering work relating to research and inspections of site conditions and conformance with rules and permits.
• Perform routine engineering functions and provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements for safety and functionality.
• Assist with verifying site characteristics and securing structural soundness from loads and environmental pressures.
• Generate documentation using drawings, 2D/3D illustrations, and site logs.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and project procedures; complete training as assigned.
• Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
