Job summary

WSP seeks a Structural Engineer - Bridge Inspection Team Leader to join our Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team in New Jersey. You will lead a team, perform structural engineering work and inspections, and contribute to plans using MicroStation, Visio, and AutoCAD.

Expect 50% field work and 50% office work across Newark, Lawrenceville, Morristown, and other NJ offices. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Structural or Civil Engineering, NJ-registered or eligible, and NCCBI certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Nationally Certified Bridge Inspector (NCBI) after FHWA-approved course.
• 3+ years in bridge/tunnel/ancillary inspection or related work.
• NHI Course 130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges Certificate; 130053 Refresher Certificate if required.
• New Jersey PE license or ability to obtain it promptly.
• Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles and project applicability.
• Willingness to perform field work and work in adverse conditions.
• Role may require 50% field and 50% office time.
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Lead Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team on inspection projects.
• Perform professional structural engineering work and inspections.
• Assist in development of plans/sketches using MicroStation, Visio, AutoCAD.
• Guide and train entry-level engineers; provide leadership to junior team members.
• Assist with project research, field work, and design calculations.
