Job summary

WSP is seeking an Assistant Team Leader for Bridge Inspections in New Jersey. This role will join our Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team and is open to multiple NJ offices such as Lawrenceville, Newark, Morristown, and other NJ locations.

Ideal for someone new to bridge inspection who wants to grow into a Team Leader role. You will conduct field inspections, assist with load ratings, develop plans using Visio and MicroStation, and collaborate with engineers on several concurrent projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
• 0 to 1 years of bridge-/structure-inspection experience.
• Engineer‑in‑Training certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Solid understanding of structural engineering principles and their application.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR check.
• Willingness for 50% field and 50% office work.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a range of bridge and infrastructure inspection projects.
• Serve as an Assistant Team Leader for bridge and sign structure inspections.
• Perform structural engineering tasks and field inspections.
• Support preparation of bridge load ratings.
• Develop plans and sketches using Visio and MicroStation.
• Collaborate with engineers on multiple concurrent projects.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary repair calculations.
• Help prepare cost proposals and scope-of-work documents.
