Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) at multiple grades.

You will serve within the Federal Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) workforce, with duties including immigration and customs enforcement, surveillance, and patrolling borders using diverse assets. Compensation ranges from $51,632 to $124,717 annually, with health, dental, and other insurance, generous leave, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge and make sound decisions in stressful situations.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree.
• A combination of general work experience and college education will be evaluated from resume/transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using various surveillance methods.
• Interpreting tracks, marks and evidence of illegal entry and contraband.
• Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols and transportation checks.
• Patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using government assets to fulfill the USBP mission.
