Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) at multiple grade levels, offering strong base pay and comprehensive federal benefits.

The agency provides significant recruitment and retention incentives, plus rigorous training at the Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, NM. Positions span GL-5 to GS-12 with promotion potential, and localization may include prioritized duty stations across the United States.

Qualifications

• KSAOs required: knowledge of immigration and nationality law, use of force policy, criminal law and procedure.
• Demonstrated ability with firearms, self-defense techniques, and vehicle operation.
• Strong ability to analyze information, make sound decisions, and interact professionally with the public.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws; inspect documents and possessions.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented or suspicious individuals near borders using surveillance and coordination.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
• Patrol the international boundary and waterways using various government assets to accomplish CBP mission.
