Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of immigration and customs violations; inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and terrain awareness.
• Interpreting evidence of illegal entry and following tracks or physical signs.
• Performing farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks during patrols.
• Patrolling international boundaries and waterways using varied government assets to fulfill the USBP mission.
