Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is recruiting Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) across multiple grades. The position offers competitive base pay, comprehensive federal benefits, and robust recruitment/retention incentives.

Eligible candidates may qualify based on education or prior safety/public safety experience, with formal training at the Border Patrol Academy. BPAs serve as federal law enforcement officers, protecting the United States at and near borders using various assets.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and stay calm under stress.
• Ability to learn regulations, methods, and procedures through training and on-the-job instruction.
• Ability to gather concise information through questioning, observation, and document review.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers by surveillance from various positions, including night operations.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband; coordinate enforcement actions.
