BPAs conduct immigration and customs inspections, patrol borders, and use a variety of assets. Training at the Border Patrol Academy is provided, with strict physical and language requirements to serve across the nation.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of general work experience or education substituting for experience.
• Bachelor's degree or completion of a full four-year course of study.
• Combination of experience and education accepted.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens near borders.
• Interpret tracks and evidence of illegal entry.
• Perform farm, building, traffic and transportation checks.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various assets.
