Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking full-time Border Patrol Agents at entry and mid-level ranks. The agency offers strong federal benefits, job stability, and sign-on incentives to qualified candidates.

Training at the CBP Academy is followed by placement in prioritized duty locations within the United States. BPAs are hired at GL-5 through GS-12 grades with competitive pay and the potential for advancement.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field from an accredited college or university.
• Combination of experience and education may qualify for the position.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near borders.
• Interpreting evidence of illegal entry and conducting checks (farm, building, traffic, city, transportation).
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using various government assets.
