Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents to protect the United States at and beyond the borders. BPAs are part of a large federal law enforcement community and serve in entry and mid-level career roles with pathways for advancement.

Candidates qualify with education or relevant public safety experience. Duty locations span many US sites; comprehensive benefits include health and retirement plans, leave, and the Thrift Savings Plan, with additional recruitment

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience or a full four-year college degree may qualify for the GL-5 level.
• Specialized experience and education substitutions apply for higher grades (GL-7, GL-9, GS-11).
• Must be a U.S. citizen and meet residency and age requirements.

Responsibilities

• Detect individuals suspected of immigration or customs violations and inspect documents accordingly.
• Patrol the international boundary and nearby areas using vehicles, horses, boats and other assets.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and evidence to determine potential illegal entry or contraband.
